Holiday Tile Cleaning: Before & After Company

Well, it’s that time of year again! It seems like just yesterday we were exchanging gifts and holiday cheer, but alas, another year has passed! And with it, come the holidays again. For most of us, that means preparing our homes for guests: family members and friends alike. It means cleaning all of those nooks and crannies and mopping the floors. And it means dealing with the aftermath. So let’s talk about cleaning before and after company!

Here are the areas we should dutifully clean before and after having company over:

The Living Room

This could also be known as “the party room.” You’ll be spending most of your time here, so make sure it’s nice and clean! Make sure floors are swept and/or vacuumed thoroughly, and all surfaces are wiped down and ready for drinks. Dust bookshelves and window blinds. And upholstered furniture should also be cleaned, so that your guests have a clean seating area.

Kitchen and Dining Areas

Ah, the food areas- we can’t neglect those! Countertops, flooring, and stove tops should all be cleaned (and can all be steam cleaned). The professionals can totally step in here, and help you get the work done at a faster rate. Plus, a professional steam cleaning company has all of the right equipment for the job!

Bathrooms

Your guests are going to see your bathrooms, so make sure they’re clean and pristine. Like in the kitchen, counter tops and flooring can be steam cleaned- but so can tile and grout! Cleaning your flooring and shower has never been easier.

If the holidays have left you feeling too exhausted for all of this leg work, don’t hesitate to contact The Steam Team of Austin Texas for assistance! We’re available 24/7, and can clean up any mess for you, no matter how extreme.

5 Ways to Protect Your Carpet Cleaning

Carpet looks great in our homes and offices, but it definitely requires some TLC on the regular to keep it looking great! Below you’ll find several tips on keeping your carpet safe and protected. The Steam Team has been cleaning rugs in Austin for over 40 years. Call us today at 512-451-8326.

Utilize Door Mats

Door mats were invented for a very great purpose! They help catch dirt from the outside and on our shoes, and prevent it from reaching our beautiful carpet. Keep a door mat at each entrance to your home and you’ll be surprised at the impact it makes (just don’t forget to clean the mat itself every once in awhile)!

Remove Shoes at the Door

An impressive amount of dirt, dust, and debris cling to our shoes as we walk about. All of that debris can really take a toll on our carpet- if we let it. Another option is to leave our filthy shoes at the entrances to our homes, so that it doesn’t even have a chance to reach our carpet!

Vacuum Frequently

We simply can’t get around vacuuming and sweeping our floor! It has to be done at least once a week, depending on the amount of traffic your carpet experiences. If you have pets or children, expect to clean a little bit more frequently.

Use a Carpet Protector

Carpet protection works by repelling dirt, and by protecting it from spills and stains. It also helps to prevent wear and tear on your carpet and increases its longevity!

Carpet Stains: Let them Hide Until We Arrive

Rug Stains

Rug Stains

Accidents happen! Who can prevent them? No one; they’ll always be lurking around the corner, waiting to harm your carpet! But you can easily let carpet stains hide until the professionals arrive, because we have all of the expertise and equipment to effectively remove stains from carpet, upholstery and other materials, too! Here are three common carpet stains that you can let hide until we arrive: Rug cleaning and stain protection from The Steam Team of Austin located at 9901  Burnet Rd. Austin, Texas 78758.

Dirt and Mud

First, let this stain dry. It may seem backwards, but dealing with dirt is much easier than dealing with moist, wet mud. So let the mud dry, and vacuum up any loose pieces. After vacuuming, spot treat the stains with a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water. Spray this onto the stain, and blot it clean with a white cloth!

Spilled Leftovers

One of the most common carpet stains is food. For food stains of any kind, we can also use vinegar. Mix ¼ teaspoon of white vinegar (or non-bleach detergent)  with 32 ounces of water. Spray and blot, people! Always blot stains- don’t rub them! Rubbing stains usually makes them worse. The Steam Team of Austin cleans all types of fine rugs at our Burnet Road rug cleaning plant

Red Wine

If that party became a little too crazy last night, that’s okay! We have the tools to help you. After you’ve absorbed the wine with clean paper towels or a cloth, use one tablespoon of white vinegar, one tablespoon of dish detergent, and two cups of warm water! Mix together and blot onto the stain until your cloth comes back clean. It shouldn’t take very many repetitions!

The Steam Team is available twenty four hours a day for any circumstance that may arise! If you need a deep carpet cleaning, then it’s time to give us a call! We’ll remove stains while we’re at it, and restore your carpet to its original, perfect condition! For carpet cleaning in Round Rock or Austin call us today at 512-451-8326.

5 Secrets to Cleaning Around the Home

Carpet Cleaning In Round Rock, Texas

Carpet Cleaning In Round Rock, Texas

It’s cleaning day! Time to break out the supplies: a vacuum cleaner, your trusty cleaning solution, and these five tips on eliminating grim around the house:

For Dust, Dirt, & Dander

There’s simply no way to avoid it. When it comes to keeping our floors clean (or at least, presentable) we must establish a regular vacuuming routine! Of course, how frequently you need to vacuum will depend on the level of foot traffic in your home. On average, you should be vacuuming at least once a week- it’ll make the chore much easier in the long run!

We suggest vacuuming for its convenience: it’s easier on the body, will save time and energy, etc. If you do not own a vacuum cleaner suitable for tile and hardwood, a broom or floor duster will suffice.

For that Stubborn Soap Scum

Removing soap scum requires an intense amount of pressure- a pressure easily achieved by a steam cleaner. If the soap scum in your bathroom has hardened, we recommend saving yourself time and frustration by either renting a steam cleaning machine, or giving a professional a call!

For Spills & Stains

Keeping spills and stains off upholstered furniture is no easy task!

It’s all about quick reflexes! Not really- just be sure to tend to spills and accidents as quickly as you can. This will help prevent permanent staining.

For Gruesome, Grimy Grout

Grout: the sole reason you procrastinate cleaning the bathroom. Grout is porous in nature, and absorbs grime very quickly. Cleaning grout is a tiring process, and oftentimes we struggle to achieve the results we desire. If your regular mopping and scrubbing isn’t cutting it consider hiring a professional.
