3 Signs itβs Time to Reupholster
By Amy Renken
Have you been getting your upholstered furniture cleaned only to feel that it still isnβt clean enough? The nice thing about furniture is you donβt have to get rid of it β you can just reupholster (even if it isnβt upholstered to begin with)! So what are the signs that it may be time to look into reupholstering that sofa you used to love?
Sagging Cushions
Has your back been hurting? Do you spend a lot of time on your sofa? Your body will probably notice it first, but your cushions could be sagging. They need some love before they completely fall apart!
Printed Fabric
When you first bought your couch or got it upholstered, you picked out a lovely printed fabric, right? Well, since upholstered furniture lasts forever (as long as youβre giving it some regular TLC) chances are that fabric is going to go out of style eventually. So, if youβre still sitting on your sofa from the 90βs you may want to consider reupholstering!
Damage
Whether it be water, fire, or smoke, if your favorite furniture encounters any type of damage youβll want to be very careful. We know accidents happen all the time, but you want to keep a close eye on your furniture and the way the damage has effected it. After coming in contact with fire or smoke, there isnβt much that can be done to save your sofa β youβll probably want to look into some new upholstery.
Rough Fabric
When you sit down, are you feeling a rough or worn fabric? Do your pets climb all over your furniture and cause some rips or tears? The best way to evaluate this is to look closely at the fabric and ensure that it is not pilling, which is caused by normal wear and tear after several years. If you are not comfortable when sitting on your sofa, youβll want to look into getting it reupholstered.
So, there you have it! Remember; to keep your furniture looking new and to lengthen its lifetime β give it some regular TLC by steam cleaning, fluffing cushions, and vacuuming the dust out!
