Keeping the Kids From Tracking Mud in the House

If you’re a homeowner and a parent, we’re willing to bet that you’re plenty familiar with the struggles of keeping your carpet clean! Children are notorious for running around, inside and outside, and consequently tracking mud, dirt, and sand all over the house. A regular vacuuming/cleaning routine will help, but frequent mud stains can be a bit of a challenge.

Carpet Wear and Tear

Foot traffic is a major culprit to causing wear and tear on your carpet. To protect our flooring, we can start by encouraging all members of the household to leave their shoes near the front door. This way, mud and dirt on shoes will not come in contact with your carpet at all!

It seems simple, but placing a welcome mat at the front and back door will also help!

Removing Pesky Mud Stains

The sooner you tackle a stain, the better you chances are at thoroughly removing it from your carpet! For mud stains, always begin by removing the excess dirt from the area with a vacuum, or even a spatula or scraper. Next, apply either baking soda, or salt, onto the area and let it settle for several hours. This will help to absorb the remaining moisture from the mud. Finally, by blotting the area with a damp, soapy cloth, you should be able to remove the remainder of the stain. Viola!

If the above method does not work, try using a mixture of dish detergent and warm water, instead of salt/baking soda.

Steam Cleaning Different Flooring

Whether you have carpet, tile, wood, laminate, or even natural stone - there’s no doubt that the floors will start to collect dirt, dust, and other debris. Sure, the severity of mess widely depends on the extent of traffic around the home. For example; do you have kids or pets? How many? What kind of shoes are you wearing and where have they been? There are so many factors that contribute to how often your floors will need your undivided attention, but there is one thing each type of flooring has in common; they can all be steam cleaned (and they should be).

Carpeting and Cleaning

Using a steam cleaner on carpet fibers can be extremely effective for numerous situations. Whether you’re dealing with a pet accident, a wine spill, or just an overall annual deep clean - you’re in the best hands with a steam cleaning professional.

Tile and Grout

Grout is one of the most absorbent materials - it’s incredibly porous, after all. Because of this, however, it can become stained quite easily. A steam cleaning machine is able to powerfully wash the grout (and tile) with water and a natural cleaning solution. Then, the same machine can suction the water out to pull any stains or other grime that’s settled between tiles and in grout.

Hardwood

Caring meticulously for hardwood floors pays off in the long run. Although a steep investment, hardwood floors can last for centuries. In fact, there are plenty of historic homes that have the original gorgeous hardwood floors throughout! Steam cleaning is a great way to ensure that hardwoods are properly cared for - no dirt, dust, or other grime is going to get in the way of its appearance (or longevity).
