Is It Worth It To Stain Concrete Flooring?

The short answer to this question: Yes! Concrete floor staining is most certainly worth it. But you expected a little more than just a short answer, didn’t you? Let’s talk about how a stained concrete floor gives you a better look for less, is super easy to maintain, and then we’ll tell you about how we can help you get your concrete floor stained today!

Cheaper Price For A Great Look

Have you ever thought your concrete floor looks sort of dull? If it's just grey, why not spice it up a little bit? With concrete floor staining, your floor can have the appearance of anything from hardwood to marble, tile, and even leather! But having your concrete stained is way cheaper than actually buying and maintaining all those types of floors. So with staining, you can get any look you want without the high prices.

Simple Maintenance

Concrete floors are some of the sturdiest and longest-lasting flooring options out there. They’re easy on your wallet and also super easy to maintain. Concrete floors won’t chip or crack nearly as easily as other flooring options, and neither will the powerful acid-based stain. The only maintenance it’ll need is occasional cleaning with a damp mop.

Fire Damage Tips Austin Texas

Winter is right around the corner… and as temperatures begin to drop, some of us are lighting our fireplaces already! It’s important, however, to remain educated about fire safety this season. Fire damage is definitely not something you want to deal with, so let’s follow these five safety guidelines when burning fires and heating your home this winter:

For space heaters:

Don’t Use Space Heaters (As Primary Sources of Heat)

Space heaters can be very dangerous and should only be used as supplementary sources of heat. And of course, they should be placed in a safe area, away from curtains, clothing items, flammable liquids, decorations, etc!

Use a Reliable Extension Cord

When it comes to the extension cord for your handy space heater, make sure it’s the adequate cord! If the extension cord is unable to handle the current, it could potentially overheat and melt. Then you’re in need of a replacement cord at best, or dealing with fire damage at worst.

For fireplaces:

Use a Fire Screen

Fire screens are used to shield the room from popping embers. They’re made of chain link or sometimes glass (always remember that glass can get really hot, and thus dangerous for pets and children).

Utilize the Proper Tools

Your fire will need to be poked and prodded periodically to keep it burning. Be sure you’re using the correct tools, for your own safety!

Clean Your Chimney

Lastly, it’s important to have your chimney cleaned at least once per year. Clearing it of dust, dirt, soot, and debris will help smoke flow through it easily. We service all of Central Texas. Please visit our website for service areas in Austin

Sometimes accidents happen; they can’t be prevented, as much as we want to be able to stop that wine glass from toppling over! Sometimes our trusty all-purpose cleaners work out the stains, and other times, the stains call for more extreme measures. This is when steam cleaning comes into play! The Steam Team can help you remove even the worst of rug stains; you’ll be surprised at the condition of your carpet after we’re finished!

Until then, here are a few tips for removing stains from your are rugs.

Food and Drink

For stains like ketchup, tomato sauce, mustard, etc, try combining one tablespoon of ammonia with one cup of water. You could also try diluted Dawn dishwashing liquid!

Pen Ink

Pens explode when we’re least expecting it! For these stains, use non oily hairspray, or rubbing alcohol. Blot gently as to not rub the stain further into the area rugs.

Pet Urine

Stains resulting from our loving (and loved) pets are some of the most common among households. Don’t sweat it! Try mixing a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar. After soaking up the urine with paper towels, gently blot out the stain.

Red Wine

Like we said, sometimes these things just can’t be prevented. For this one, mix ¼ teaspoon of dishwashing detergent with 4 cups of lukewarm water. Gently blot the stain clean, then use a damp, clean cloth to absorb the rest.

Don’t forget- The Steam Team deals with these stains and many more on a constant and perpetual basis, so we have the right equipment to handle the job!
